Planning Your Video - Storyboarding & Activity
Module 2 Planning Your Video - Storyboarding & Activity
Start with a quick storyboard.
- This can help you identify main points and chunk content by topic or theme
- Helps streamline the information and prevent tangents
- Keeps content in context
- This can be as simple as going back through your slides and verifying that what you want is there, in order, and clear
Quick Tips:
- Use a clear, succinct title
-
Start with a brief summary of the entire video/lecture
- What's the big picture here? How does it relate, and why should we care? *This is priming the learner*
- If it is complex or long, give a quick overview of each piece
- This is especially useful if you make one longer video rather than several short videos. You can still crate the video with chunking the content in mind and simply mark the start of each topic in the video
- Include some type of activity for them to do while watching the video
- "Ok, pause your video now and solve this problem, read this passage, do a web search etc."
- In the video itself give about a 5 second pause and then begin to review the problem, discuss the passage or resources, etc.
- You can also do this in a more low-key way by asking them to think about something and pausing a moment before continuing.
